Kochi, Oct. 6 Amway India, the direct selling FMCG company, has posted a growth of 17 per cent during the first seven months of the fiscal 2009.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr Pankaj Vassal, Vice-President (South), Amway India, said that the company has registered a growth of 40 per cent in recession-hit 2008, from Rs 800 crore in 2007, to Rs 1,128 crore in 2008. “With this growth rate, we are confident of crossing Rs 2,500 crore by 2012. Amway is in the process of tripling its production capacity by year-end, with its largest vendor at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh,” he said.
Kerala is one of the key markets and one among the top 5 markets. The first seven months of this year has seen the business grow by 17 per cent in the State over the same period of 2008, which is a positive indicator of the future prospects of the Amway business in the State.
To further drive growth, the company is making investments for infrastructure expansion to open Amway Touch Points in Kottayam and Palakkad. “We are confident that very soon Kerala will be one of the top three markets for Amway India,” he added.
Mr Vassal also launched the festive catalogue range of products comprising both Amway core line products, and the co-branded products comprising products ranging from teas to bedsheets and sandwich toasters.
Company network
The company has invested more than Rs 151 crore in India. It has 127 offices and 55 city warehouses across the country and covers over 3,000 cities and towns through its distribution and home delivery network set up with the support of independent logistics partners.
